Tsavo & Amboseli, to the Coast (Eastern Kenya)
To the east of Nairobi lie some very different National Parks, the best known being Tsavo and Amboseli. To the south of these Parks mighty Kilimanjaro rises above the clouds, though clear sightings of Kili are very seasonal and often only for a few hours a day, so the legendary photos of elephants with Kili in the background is not a sight that everyone will see. Amboseli is a relatively small Park and very famous for its well researched elephant population. Tsavo is more famous the legendary lion attacks on workers building the Uganda-Mombasa Railway in 1898, Today a very modern high-speed passenger rail service (Madaraka Express) from Nairobi links the Tsavo area and continues right through to coastal Mombasa. The highway to the coast is constantly busy, so regular flights between Nairobi and many coastal towns are a good option.
The Kenyan coast has many stunning beaches and resorts of world class scattered along them. Mombasa is a bustling coastal city full of history and commerce. Yet another area of Kenya worth discovering.
