Features of Zambia:

- excellent leopards in Luangwa
- uncrowded Parks and Reserves
- very good value
Zambia is one of the least travelled destinations in the region, but this in fact is a huge bonus as it has a wealth of National Parks which are not crowded and offer "real africa" experiences. 30% of the nation's total land area is reserved for wildlife with 20 National Parks.
In recent years the infrastructure has improved tremendously so that now you can be looking at Victoria Falls and the Zambezi River in the morning, and then spend the afternoon surrounded by prides of lion hundreds of kilometres away.
Consider the following National Parks
The South Luangwa : Floodplains, riverbanks, ox-bow lagoons and varieties of forests - the perfect habitat for almost every animal. One of the best wildlife concentrations in Africa, and one of the few parks where you are encouraged to walk with your guides to see it all. The home of the "walking-safari".
The North Luangwa : Remote & wild. Hardly explored, and yet the home to a full cross-section of the best of Zambia's wildlife. By vehicle or on foot, your exploration here will be one you definitely won't have to share with other tourists. Exclusive, yet well serviced by a few top operators.
Lower Zambezi : Hugging the northern banks of the Zambezi River, this park is wild and large. A few camps and lodges and the perfect setting for large lion prides and healthy well-nourished prey. True wilderness with land and water safaris.
Kafue : The oldest and largest of Zambia's National Parks, and only a few hours by road from Livingstone or Lusaka. A variety of habitats and an increasing numbers of lodges and camps across the Park. Of particular importance are the Busanga Plains - Kafue's Jewel-in-the-Crown !
Liuwa Plains : Famous for the large Blue Wildebeest migration that occurs in November - December (second only to the Serengeti). Remote and very wild, with a great range of predators and prey.
Kasanka : Although blessed with much wildlife, it is best known for the world's single largest mammal migration - 10 million fruit bats !!
Bangweulu : are one of Africa’s greatest wetlands, home to copious birdlife and rare antelope such as the sitatunga, black lechwe and oribi. A great place to see the famous "Shoebill".
